We have a portrait club membership at JC Penny. Instead of buying school pictures from the school photographer each year, I usually just bring the kids to JC Penny to get "school pictures" made there. It's a lot less expensive when I go the JC Penny route. I think the quality is probably about the same. They're not the best pictures in the world, but they do the trick for documenting that particular school year.
We did our JC Penny photos on Saturday. Nice to check that off my list for this year. While we were there, I had an individual shot made of Manzo as well. He was very skeptical of the whole situation. I think he was afraid he was about to be dropped off in an unfamiliar church nursery. He kept eyeing the photographer with suspicion. (i.e., "who ARE you? and WHY do you have that big black toy in front of your face---they do NOT have one of those at my regular church nursery...") When I would try to put him down on the white dropcloth and walk a few feet away to get out of the shot, he would immediately start to crawl towards me as fast as his little arms and legs could take him. I kept trying to put him back into the right spot on the dropcloth and reassure him in a sing-song, happy voice that he should really STAY there for JUST a minute. We did the best we could, but the photos we got were so-so. Ultimately I ended up ordering one 8x10 photo of him looking really skeptical. I went ahead and bought it because it was only $4 and it shows what his cute little face looks like at 13 months.
While we were all there, we got a group shot of all 3 kids, too. Manzo was totally comfortable sitting on the dropcloth when he was in his brother's lap. All good.
In the group shot, everyone was looking at the camera, and everyone was smiling. Major success.
Here's a quick photo we took after the JC Penny adventure was over.
